Très bon programme, même si son interface principale un peu sobre comparée à celle de certains programmes commerciaux pourrait rebuter certains.

Note : il semblerait que cette interface n'est exploitable sous Windows 98 qu'à condition d'avoir au moins Internet Explorer 5.

Qu'est-ce?

Beaucoup d'utilisateurs de l'archiveur de fichier 7-Zip ont critiqué son aspect nostalgique.

Wow! Enfin une version définitive (release) cinq ans après la dernière en date.

A noter que 7-zip peut maintenant ouvrir les fichiers compressés avec (Win)RAR version 5.x.

Attention, certains ont remarqué avec la nouvelle version 15.12 que le gain d'espace était moins bon qu'avec la 9.20 (précédente version stable), avec exactement les mêmes réglages et ensembles de fichiers à archiver. Cette différence peut, selon les cas, être plus ou moins significative.

Ceci est lié au fait que, depuis la 15.06 beta, 7-zip ne trie plus les fichiers par extension avant de les ajouter à une archive solide.
Si vous voulez rétablir ce comportement, il suffit d'ajouter "qs" (sans guillemets) dans le champ "Paramètres", en bas à gauche de la fenêtre "Ajouter à l'archive".
Le logiciel gardera ce paramètre en mémoire.

J'adore ce logiciel avec juste un bémol! la version native 7Z et très peu reconnue par les autres logiciels de compactage. Il vaut mieux paramétrer 7zip avec des fichiers en sortie en format zip si vous partagez lesdits fichiers.

En réponse à arkonide, j'aurais tendance à dire que si on continue à diffuser du .zip par souci de compatibilité, alors ça ne va pas aider le format .7z (ou n'importe quelle "nouveauté") à devenir populaire, alors pourtant qu'il le mérite bien puisqu'en règle générale il permet d'obtenir des archives plus légères, parfois de manière _très_ significative.

Par ailleurs la majorité des archiveurs populaires savent décompresser du .7z, pourvu qu'ils ne soient pas dans des versions trop anciennes.
Pour prendre un exemple populaire, WinRAR prend en charge la décompression du .7z depuis des années.

Enfin, même si on diffuse des archives en .zip, l'utilisateur final peut rencontrer des problèmes avec, car la prise en charge de ce format directement dans l'explorateur Windows est loin d'être parfaite (par exemple, quand l'archive contient des sous-dossiers, ça se complique).

- There are optimizations in code for 7-Zip's context menu in Explorer:
the speed of preparing of the menu showing was improved for cases when big number of
files were selected by external program for context menu that contains 7-Zip menu commands.

And the drag-and-drop operation with right button of mouse now is supported for some cases.
- The bugs were fixed:
- ZIP archives: if multithreaded zip compression was performed with more than one
file to stdout stream (-so switch), 7-zip didn't write "data descriptor" for some files.
- ext4 archives: 7-Zip couldn't correctly extract symbolic link to directory from ext4 archives.
- HFS and APFS archives: 7-Zip incorrectly decoded uncompressed blocks (64 KiB) in compressed forks.
